Imagine being born in the middle of a corn maze...
For those of us fortunate enough to have been born outside of the "corn maze" and likely never visited there, it is easy to judge, easy to dismiss and easy to ignore. So I ask that you take a moment to imagine being born in the middle of a corn maze and all you have ever seen is corn.
Even if you are given tools to get out of the corn, once you are out, you have no idea how to behave, what is expected and how to succeed. The rules are different, the experiences are different and it is a scary place.
What happens to all breathing beings when they are scared... they react, they survive and likely they go back to their comfort zone.
For real opportunities to be successful, we need to provide more than new tools. We need to help pull the pieces together and allow this person to stand at the same starting line as those born outside the corn maze!
Only then can we expect them to succeed, can we judge their progress and can we all reap the rewards of their efforts.
